Before I received your last reply I thought I would try reinstalling Windows 7. All the programs work now. There is no longer the configuration and set up pop ups process and the programs including Project open straight away. I'm not sure why, but the initial Windows 7 installation would not allow me to choose the upgrade option, I had to do a clean install, using Windows easy transfer etc. This time I was able to choose the upgrade option. You know the procedure from there.
I am wondering whether something went astray during the first Windows 7 installation. Thanks for your advice. Will keep you posted, but so far so good. Thanks for your feedback.
